  • Training

Our Retail Academy offers exceptional training in all forms of makeup, retail beauty and customer service. In the Line of Beauty is the education and training division of Artisan People. Our courses offer all the training and skills needed for candidates to be successful in the beauty retail industry.

  • Candidates

We have flexible roles with a range of great luxury brands. We are looking for individuals with the right personal qualities, i.e. good communicators with great personalities who are well presented, polite, punctual, adaptable and reliable.

Candidates can expect to work in shifts to cover opening hours from early morning to late at night.

  • Clients

The demands of the beauty sector are unique. Our priority is to recruit staff members that are wholly suited to your brand and will consistently add value to your business. Our hand-picked candidates will have successfully completed a one to one interview and a thorough assessment process, to ensure the highest quality staff to suit the demands of each client.

Consequently we have a pool of great candidates who are trained and experienced working for luxury fashion and beauty brands. If you need people immediately, we will send you the best people for the job.

  • Fragrance Recruitment

We work with high-end fragrance brands across London and the South East, including Bluewater and Lakeside.

Our clients include designer brands like Armani, as well as niche fragrances such as those produced by Selfridges and Harrods.

Experience of retail and fragrance is preferable, but we are ultimately looking for people with great personalities. You will need to be self-motivated and have lots of energy and confidence as you’ll be stopping traffic! These roles are perfect for performers of all kinds – actors, musicians, dancers etc – so if you can be loud and gregarious, get in touch! Brand training will be given, but we expect candidates to be willing to do their own research on fragrances and brands. Temporary work is a great way of getting to know brands better and is often a good stepping stone to permanent work and promotion.

  • Makeup Recruitment

Artisan People Group are proud to be one of the leading makeup recruiters in London. Do you have a passion for all things makeup? The popularity of becoming an independent makeup artist is ever-growing in the UK however, going off on your own could mean struggling for clients and lacking a real professional and inspiring place to work. Imagine working as a beauty advisor for leading beauty brands like mac cosmetics.

When looking to join the beauty playground, you’ll see from the search results how sort after talented and ambitious makeup artists are. Artisan People have current vacancies available that offer an exciting opportunity for a new makeup artist looking for both full time and part-time positions.

If you are an experienced makeup artist your career could be re-imagined. Imagine working with leading beauty brands that may be able to offer you a full-time job as a makeup artist whilst giving you the best industry training around new and emerging skincare products. As a beauty advisor, it’s important you are passionate about makeup and offering industry-leading customer service.

Makeup skills are essential for these roles, but formal experience or qualifications aren’t necessary. If you’ve learnt everything you know from YouTube, that’s fine, as long as you’re good at what you do and have lots of useful knowledge to pass on to customers. We’ll need to know you know how to match foundation, apply eye makeup, understand the best colours that work with skin tone etc and be comfortable applying makeup on other people.

Our clients tend to fall into one of two categories: the playful, colourful brands such as Mac and Bobbi Brown; and the classic, sophisticated brands such as Chanel, Dior and YSL. We are looking for people with different skills and distinct personalities for the different brands. We’re not expecting candidates to suit both types of fragrance house, and will only place people who suit the brand best.

Our temporary makeup jobs are great if you need to earn money while you’re working towards another career, maybe as a makeup artist, actor, dancer or other performer where you will already have a good knowledge of applying makeup.

  • Skincare Recruitment

We are looking for people with a beauty therapy background, or those who have personal experience of skincare, a good understanding of different skin types and the best and skincare routines.

These roles suit people with a natural, toned down look. We are looking for people with a maturity of understanding and discretion, who are willing to learn about the products as well as the brands so they can be knowledgeable about the products and which ones will work most effectively. This includes knowledge of product ingredients, allergies etc.

Candidates will receive product training, and often work with brands such as Dermalogica, Sisley etc.

  • Luxury fashion Jobs

We are looking for people who understand high end fashion and who will be prepared to offer customers a personalised service. Not quite a personal shopper role, but you will be expected to give one-to-one customer experience, including finding items for them, putting together outfits that go together well and making your customer look and feel great, as well as giving advice and tactful feedback.

You must be immaculately well presented, enthusiastic, passionate and capable. You will be in an environment which could be extremely busy or very quiet so you must be calm, confident and proactive.

Customer service excellence is key to these roles. Customers in luxury boutiques expect a personalised service, so you will be willing to go above and beyond in order to give them a memorable experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether it’s with fashion, cosmetics, skincare or fragrances, you’ll be working at the luxury end of the market, with all the expectations for customer service excellence that entails. You must therefore be prepared to give great one-to-one service and be happy to always go the extra mile in order to delight your customers.

No, but you will need to know your subject area well. For instance, we’ll be happy to meet you if you’ve learned how to do a makeover using YouTube videos rather than formal training courses, but we need to know you understand how to match colours with skin tone, and that you are comfortable putting makeup on other people.
