Membership Sale/Recruiter Assistant

Our client, one of the most popular museums in the UK, is on the hunt for a Membership Sale/Recruiter Assistant to join the Membership Team at the British Museum.

The role

As Membership Sale/Recruiter Assistant, you will sell Membership within the Museum and increase the revenue. You will be required to provide excellent face-to-face customer service to Members and visitors in the front of house environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Work as part of a team of Membership Recruiters to sell Membership to visitors, renewals and upselling of additional cards and guest facilities to existing Members
  • Work at the reception area of the Members’ Room during the Museum opening hours
  • Consistent delivery of excellent customer care to all Members (existing or new recruits)
  • Support the administration and organisation of Members’ events
  • Pack and distribute Membership materials (temporary cards, application forms, welcome packs) to the Membership desk, Members’ Room and Box Office
  • Provide cover and act as visitor service support within the Members’ Room and the Membership Desk
  • Accurately process new Membership applications, renewals, gift aids, payments (including direct debits), exhibition bookings, event ticket applications and donations to agreed procedures and service level standards
  • Work with the Membership Sales Manager to ensure timely stocktakes of all marketing and fulfilment materials on site to ensure adequate levels are maintained
  • Support the Membership Services Manager as necessary in other tasks and duties related to Membership activity
  • Carry out other duties within competence

How you’ll dazzle us

The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and accuracy when inputting information, experience of excellent face-to-face customer service skills and sales in heritage, tourism or retail.

You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely with visitors, team members and managers and perform as a flexible team player. As a well-spoken and outgoing individual, you love a client-facing role and will thrive in a busy front of house environment.

You will need to be flexible to work on the weekend when necessary.

Ongoing assignment on a rota pattern of 4 days on and 2 off, with late nights until 20:30 on Fridays (around 30 hours per week). You may be requested to work weekends and bank holidays.
