A luxury skincare and makeup brand is on the hunt for a collaborative Commercial Director to be based in London.

The role

The Commercial Director is responsible for Global Sales and Marketing; encompassing wholesale, retail, .com D2C B2B and international distributors. You will contribute to the strategic direction and annual planning for company sales, overseeing its implementation, driving sales and developing new business.

An overview of your responsibilities:

  • Agree an annual vision and strategy for each channel by retailer and distributor, outlining the ambitions to improve sales, profit and brand image
  • Agree and set annual budgets and plan to meet the objectives of the strategy
  • Lead commercial negotiations with key partners and new accounts
  • Coordinate all functions within the Sales team to ensure long-term objectives are aligned
  • Review progress quarterly to ensure target delivery is on-track and adapt plans as appropriate
  • Leading the business planning process in conjunction with Operations and Finance
  • Monitor trading results on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure performance is on track
  • Develop and deliver proposals to enhance performance across all areas, negotiating additional support as needed
  • Drive the enhancement of the P&L for each retailer in line with the annual strategy
  • Review spends against budget monthly (e.g. marketing, staffing, capex), addressing over/under-spends as appropriate to achieve profit targets
  • Track spend and return on investment within budget parameters and in accordance with actual sales trends to protect the bottom line
  • Work with the Operations team on forecasting to ensure stock availability
  • Plan and deliver successful NPD launches in all channels
  • Develop a trade marketing strategy with each partner to maximise performance and optimise ROI
  • Responsible for the look and feel of the brand within flagship stores, self-select outlets and third party online platforms
  • Develop strong and collaborative relationships with leadership teams and senior management within all retail partners and distributors
  • Act as the primary contact for key negotiations and communications with retail partners and distributors
  • Lead the introduction and sell-in of NPD to partners
  • Recruit, lead, manage and coach a high performing team delivering on KPIs
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of the team at both a group and an individual level to build a succession plan for long-term success

You boast national and international experience, commercial acumen, and a track record of self-development. With experience in both large and small companies, particularly within luxury beauty, you excel in both written and verbal communication, negotiation, and independent judgement.

Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills, you are a project management expert who builds teams and fosters relationships. Passionate about the beauty industry, you are flexible, engaged, and will champion the company’s values.
